We are a boutique Petone-based architectural practice. We have been providing a high-level architectural design and development service in the Wellington Region for over 25 years.
We take a collaborative team approach to all projects with communication with clients being key to a design process producing meaningful, effective, and intelligent buildings.
Our Story
Our office premises were originally constructed in the 1930s as the Sweet Shop for the adjacent Palace Theatre and form part of the Jackson St Heritage Precinct.
The premises have recently undergone seismic strengthening and redevelopment. This includes heritage preservation of the existing shopfront to provide a contemporary office space for our architectural practice.
We have a long history of providing a broad range of architectural solutions for projects in the educational, residential, commercial, and public infrastructure sectors. We have experience in a wide range of design disciplines including Architecture, Planning, Landscape, and Interior Design.
Philosophy
Architectural design and development is a process that develops in partnership with a client demanding a commitment to effective communication on a number of levels and through a range of stages.
We believe the process depends upon careful consideration of client requirements, environment, site and context.
The design process continues from the commencement of a project through documentation and contract administration to completion.
All documentation is produced with a clear view of the overall project; we consider that all drawings are design drawings.
All design work is very much client, context, and materials based.
Design does not stop at building walls. It includes spaces between buildings, the landscape, and all aspects of the site.
Intelligent, effective, meaningful buildings are developed in partnership with and through effective communication with a client.
Sustainability
We have a strong environmentally sustainable design philosophy.
In line with this, all design work from the office will maximise environmental opportunities, delivering tangible advantages in terms of comfort, health and well-being for building occupants and resource/energy efficiency for the project as a whole.
Through our design work, we are committed to meeting current energy efficiency requirements and regulations. We aim to create buildings that deliver long-term advantages for New Zealand from an environmental standpoint.
Process
We take a team-based approach to all projects, often as the lead consultant we work closely with other consultants and stakeholders inside a multi-disciplinary framework.
We see communication as fundamental to the success of our approach.
Our architectural team are personable and proactive in establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders & other personnel on all our projects.
We take professional pride in not only following up on communications promptly but also being proactive in assisting stakeholders through the design and development process as appropriate.
We are very aware that communication is key in formalizing effective design solutions.
